Hi,

Our house was hit by the storms in The Gap, Queensland, and rather than repair the crappy old tile roof, we are going to put the insurance money towards a new metal roof (zincalume)

However, this means that we a locked into using the insurance companies roof repairer.

He has quoted us $10700.00 to replace tiles with zincalume. We would be able to deduct $2700 of this price as this is the cost to the insurance company to repair the tiled roof. The end price to us would be $8000

This is for the roof ONLY (not gutters or downpipes ... these need replacing but will be done separately due to other drainage issues etc) and includes disposal of the old tiles and replacement of battons.

Does this seem reasonable??? House is highset 70's brick. Medium size (have attached arial picture ... bit hard to see but there are two hip gables at the rear of the house). This is all a bit of a rush and I don't want to get ripped off.

Should we also get insulation in between the battons and metal roof? (an extra $1100). We already have polly batts.

Thanks heaps.
