Do frameless shower screens need scilicon?
Mould and gunk caught in the scilicon along the wall and floor edging of the shower screen has always been annoying and a source of complaint from SWMBO.
I am going to install a single sheet of frameless showerscreen (single sheet only, no door) and am strongly considering leaving a small gap of a few mm around the edges and not using any scilicon.
I figure the minimal gap won't result in much water splashing out to the general area but am not sure if the scilicon adds to the torsional strength of the glass - ie, will the installation be weaker without it.
Any thoughts?
