Well it is still raining here .

The timber chairs & table outside are soaked. Everything was already wet yesterday, so it wasn't worth putting up the tarps. I've grabbed all the dry deck chairs & stools etc and arranged around the family room. I think we may be eating off the pool table rather than outside . The shed might get a wee bit cramped, even more than usual

Rain rain go away come again another day ...................

Well it stopped raining at 9am and the sun even came out once or twice during the day. We had a short sprinkle for 5mins in the arvo and that was it

I started skewering the Kabarbs at 8am, but it wasn't until about 11am that I finished and nearly everyone was here. Basically there was heaps of door prizes and bragging items that kept everyone amuzed while I finished getting everything ready . We then had morning tea of cakes, biscuits, lamingtons etc etc (I still have a whole chocolate cake and another caramel cake left over in the fridge )

We headed down the shed for the compulsary tour, cut up some timber scraps for the scalpers (or should I say pen turners ), then FC tried out "the" plane. Then I headed back to the pergola to start cooking lunch.

Lunch time and we fed our faces on HEAPS of yummy food before relaxing and yacking some more. We then did our traditional Queenslander door prixes session - no-one can do it as good . They were on top of, underneath, and around the pool table. At least 2 rounds of the names in the hat - big lumps of timber, books, pens, home made tools and bought ones, Wendy's leather folders, turning blanks etc etc the list goes on.

After the food had only just gone down, whilst yacking some more, we all got stuck into the deserts - pavlova, trifle, lemon marang pie .

This meet was more about just hanging back relaxing and yacking more than demos and I for one had a ball

    Photos follows, cheers gang

It was absolutely a great day, weather was excellent and we had a ball. Everyone was so friendly and the food was excellent.
Thanks guys and gals for making the whole day a great one. Special thanks to you Neil for having us and putting up with us. I scored a great door prize, one of Wendy's note pads. Got a few pen blanks too.
Thanks for a great day Neil. Was a pleasure to be there.

Sounds like you had a great time. Shame I couldn't make it.

But how the heck did you take some of those pictures - hanging from the ceiling fan? Obviously more than punch was consumed...

    Got home an hour ago.
Thanks Neil (Dai Sensei) for hosting another great get-together. Heaps of food, heaps of timber, great conversation.
It was good to renew acquaintance with several of the forum members and to meet quite a few for the first time.
Thanks to everybody who came for an enjoyable and informative day.

Pens! Pens! and more Beautiful Pens. It was too tempting, so I had to ask for a pen and what do you know, you should have seen all the pens that suddenly appeared from pockets and the display cases. The best bit - they were all turned pens, not one ordinary bic in sight Needless to say, I came home with another one of Neil's and couldn't resist ordering another of Simomatra's, as well as some gorgeous box timber from Dion (I forgot to ask what it was!) and Soundman and a few other Goodies

Thank you Neil and everyone for a wonderful day and the most delicious food. That dessert photo - Neil, how on earth did you get a photo of it all without one spoonful removed!! Oh, but guess what I forgot though Neil I'll have to collect the veneers from you in March

    Cheers

Thanks Neil, the gods had there play then smiled on the gathering, perfect day and perfect host , it never ceases to amaze me the generosity of spirit and willingness to share with others ,of the crafters gould of "wood whatevers" hehe, was great to meet and be part of such a group as could make it today, and of the many who couldn't ,I know they share the same sentiments of unselfishness and willingness to go that extra bit for their fellows,it shows in the forums and in person when possible ,may we all continue to enjoy such fellowship !

I guess it was an alright day...

I came home with a box full of timber and a shiny new shooting board so I didn't do too bad.

Food and company weren't to bad either
