    Default Whaddya Reckon?

    "ART"

As in "Andrew Reeson Toolworks" for a business name.

    Or how about "Andrew Reeson
    Tool Maker

I hear that if you use your own name for a business name then you don't have to pay Mr Government. Anyone got any idea about what you can add onto your name before you have to fork out?

Andrew Reeson-Fine Woodworking Tools? Tool maker sound a bit more scientific that woodwork. IMHO! (Doesn't make a neat acronym! But nearly spells FART.

No idea about the legal isues.

The first thing you need is a good accountant if you believe that.

I think he means fork out anything for registering your business name if it is the same as your own name.

If you do actually make any income after business expenses THEN you have to pay taxes. Then if you make billions you can get an off shore bank account and you don't have to pay tax again........if they don't catch you.

    Default Business Name

    Hey Funky,

The Info that I have says that you register your name for an ABN, and you can have a trading name, The Tax man comes into play when you reach a turn over figure of $75,000.00 per Year (I Believe) before you have to register for GST, then you have to do Business Activity Statements (BAS) and you pay tax etc from then on, Like the previous post said, get some advice from an accountant. You can register for an ABN online and it's free,(There are heaps of hints and tips on the site, ATO.gov.au I think)

There are some suppliers that won't talk to you unless you have an ABN,

Good luck young fella, and keep going hard.( I like your Style)

    Hi Andrew
If you like Andrew Reeson Toolworks as a name then go for it, although I would suggest shortening to Andrew Reeson Tools.
You see, it's the business that gives the name credibility and not the other way round.

It does not cost much to register a business name and I suggest you do it to avoid operating in any legal grey area.
