Hey there,

I'm using the paper tape to fill my ceiling and un tapered joints on my walls. I am finding that after putting on the tape and then using just enough joint compound to cover the tape and feather out the joint that I feel the whole area that has been filled is a little high compared to the rest of the wall.
I have done plenty of filling and this sort of thing before but I think trying to cover the tape is the problem.
Pretty sure I'm not doing much wrong. Maybe it'll look better once I've sanded it back but it does feel a bit high.

Any thoughts?? Thanx

P.s. I was using a joint compound mix and on the bucket the instructions say to bed the joint first w filler then put the tape in it then put another layer on immediately..I tried just putting the paper tape on the joint then filling it but it seemed really awkward and messy....
