    Default Australian cedar?

    Hello All,
Need some advice on a table I found at the tip, it is a small hall/writing table of late Victorian or early Edwardian construction with turned legs but it is without a top.
The timber appears to be what is described as "Australian cedar" ( pale to golden coloured close grained wood without much variation) by various antique dealers. Could anyone advise what the timber is( or could be) and what would be a suitable replacement timber to replace the top with.
    Thanks guys,
    appreciate any advice.

I can't help you but decided to be the first to say a picture would be a great help.

If its yellow and little to no feature in the grain, It's probably kauri.
Australian cedar has plenty of grain and some lovely figuring.

    Agree....could well be Kauri

I could tell you if you show a picture of it

Pale to golden colour (yellow ?), close grained, could even describe Huon - love to find that sort of thing at the tip
