Hi Smidsy, no intention of sounding confrontational on my last post. I really enjoy watching the V8's and attending the 3 days when they are here in Perth. The fun of the series is dying. AVESCO have too much of a say instead of the drivers and its them that are out there doing it. I love watching the rivalry between skaife, ingall, murphy and ambrose. And a good driver will have his eyes open wide and stay out of trouble,(unlike skaife on the weekend) It's all about being in there, having a go and having fun. Take the fun out of it, get seriously pee'vd off everytime something doesn't go your way (skaife)and you ruin it. Lowndes never chucks a hissy fit when things go wrong and lets face it, he hasn't been having the best of luck. I feel that skaife, since he isn't have fun, should step down and just manage the team and not drive. To all the other teams out there, that are having fun, are in there having a go, good on them. I wish it was me!
Team Dynamik’s hard-charging performance in today’s Sandown 500 in Melbourne has the South Australian V8 Supercar team looking forward to the Bathurst 1000 next month.
Both of Team Dynamik’s Dodo Internet cars made good ground through the field early in today’s Round 9 161-lapper before accidents ended their races prematurely.
Strategy, stops and speed had all gone exactly as planned up to that stage for the Team.
The enduro driving team of Simon Wills and Paul Stokell had blasted the Dodo Internet car #44 from 27th off the grid to fourth position before a race-ending crash on lap 107.
Stokell had the wheel then but was helpless as cars in front virtually stopped at the Dandenong Road corner.
“I don’t think I even had a chance to get on the brakes,” he said. The impact crumpled the bonnet and limited Stokell’s visibility creating further on-track problems. He limped back to the pits but required major repairs, circulating for another lap later in the race before calling it quits.
Co-driver Simon Wills took the Dodo Internet car #44 from 27th on the grid to 10th position, slicing through the field.
“The car was very strong … both Paul and myself were comfortably quicker than most other cars out there but it was a frustrating end to the race. But it’s motor racing and you have to accept this can happen,” Wills said.
Stokell then took over on lap 61 and kept the Dodo Internet car #44 circulating nicely, pushing up to fourth before the accident.
Team Dynamik’s other team of Dale Brede and Will Davison had also shown promising pace before mechanical difficulties, complicated by race damage, ended the race for the Dodo Internet car #45.
A rear impact on lap 29 led to a black flag to repair damage, dropping a lap for the Dodo Internet #45. From there it was a long way back for Brede and Davison.
“I was nailed on turn 8 and pushed onto the grass,” said Brede. “Then we were blackflagged and had to go in to repair the damage. But we showed good car speed and the whole package is looking promising for Bathurst.”
Both cars recorded DNFs but the Team heads to Bathurst with renewed confidence in their racing package. With new naming rights sponsor Dodo Internet on board, the Team is happy with their preparation for the prestige event on the V8 Supercar calendar.

#6 Craig Lowndes - "I stayed out of trouble during my stint and the car was good except for some understeer. I handed the car to Glenn within the top six and he was running very strongly until he got caught up in other drivers' dramas - this is always a risk in these long distance races. We are getting stronger and we'll take what we have learned here at Sandown to prepare an even faster car for Bathurst."
#6 Glenn Seton - "It was a hard day - no doubt about that. Jason Bright turned me around early in my stint, which got me bogged and we lost four laps there. After one of the re-starts, one of the Dynamik cars hit me in the rear quarter and it felt like he kept his foot into it, spinning me around. Unfortunately Skaifey had no where to go, we hit and I got bogged again. These incidents were a shame as the car balance was pretty good - we definitely need more power, we
were significantly lacking in that area and this is something that we will be working on between now and Bathurst."

What is ruining a good car race is the bloody pace car, 12 bloody times it was out, a driver sets up a good lead only to see it disappear because of some drongo behind him has a red mist obscuring his vision. My mate and I have been having a long and ongoing discussion about this and are still not sure how to fix it . Our best solution is a helicopter hoving overhead with an electromagnet slung under it, as soon as a car goes off the track clang, picked up and deposited in the car park.Anyone got a better solution?

Bloody oath Shane, all because some old biddy didn't like the noise and traffic disruptions for one lousy week. I was just thinking this morning when they were advertising a fun run that is a wonder she doesn't complain about the noise from that.

Your joking! Thats the reason why? And here I was thinking that it had more to do with terrisiom concerns.........
Mind you, same thing happened here in Brisbane with the Lakeside circuit some years back. Theres still a big push for the circuit to re-open. Not sure what success the committee (sp?) is having though

Safety Car

I know the safety cars are frustrating but it beats the hell out of what used to go on. It was positively scary watching flat tops with dead cars heading down the "mountain" with the race still in full swing. Granted there were waved yellows but going over skyline you can't see a thing. They should do as they do in F1. Lift the dead ones over the fence and leave them there until the race ends.
Anyone off to Bathurst?

I never heard of GAFA before... :confused:
Have done the trek across the nullabor a few times - once in a bus (YUK) but prefer to fly in comfort and movies these days

Hi Smidsy,
"This product not tested on animals or ROCKET RANGES" was on rear quarter panel of Gary Rogers Motorsport Car 33. Seems a few of the other teams are unhappy with the penalties applied to Team Dynamic. Saga continues ...

Shane, you know how it is , vocal minority led by some old biddy, this one tried to get into local politics, didn't make it than god.
Ivan, like I said I am not sure what the solution is. What gets me is when a car gets buried up to the axles (as it is supposed to)in the kitty litter they bring out the pace car. Now if that car is in a dangerous position and another car goes off in the spot how hard is it going to hit the buried car, not very bloody hard, so why bring out the pace car?
