Hardwood over chipboard struck a problem
I am laying an Australian Hardwoord T&G floor and intended to lay it over the existsing Chipboard flooring....until I pulled the carpet up and saw the condition of it.
So the chipboard is comming up and I will need to put some timber down on top of the floor joists to bring the floor height back up again before laying the floor.
So to the question, the joists are oregon or some other similar softwood, I was intending to nail some hardwood down on top of the joists but was thinking that it may lift over time.
Should I nail hardwood onto joists.
Should I screw hardwood onto joists
Should I use softwood instead of hardwood and then Nail or screw.
Should I give up and get a bull dozer...hmm dont aswer that.
