Low Deck/Stirrups/joist hanger questions
G'day guys, had lots of info from the site to far. I am hoping someone can help me with a few quesitons please.
I am doing a low lying deck, which will be about 220mm above ground height at the lowest point, and i was thinking of using the pryda style metal stirrups as the posts, and bolting the bearers directly into these. Firstly, how do you get the stirrups level? Is it just a case of digging and filling the holes with less/more dirt untill level, and then filling with concrete? (forgive me if i am sounding stupid..sorry!) i just wonder if its not a stong base in the hole, then the concrete may sink a little over time.
And as i want to try and get teh deck quite low, i was thinking of using joist hangers between the bearers, but dont know if they are the stongest things to use? The deck will be about 8m, and 2.8 meters.
Thanks for any help guys.
