Stain or sand the flooring?
When you are busy what do you do? start a job at home that you think will be easy and quick! Why do we do these things?
Pulled up the old carpet in the entrance and hall to find lovely narrow hardwood floorboards in very good condition. the entrance was untouched, but the hall had been stained with a dark stain for 200mm from the skirting board, leaving an unstained section in the middle There must have been a carpet runner!
The skirting boards, doors and the architraves are the same dark stain colour
Is it better to sand of all the stain and then apply a tongue oil type of finish? or
Try to match the stain and make it all stained? How hard is it to match a stain? Will it look strange if you have dark skirts, doors etc and a new golden floor?
Thanks
