Default Ozito 8" planer thicknesser - Done

I didn't buy it, but I saw one on display today and had a really good look over it.

I could find no height adjustment lock on the thicknesser. so if it vibrates I think it could move.

I could find no lock nor adjustment on the jointer table, so unless it's perfectly square out of the box you won't be able to plane straight.

The whole thing is pretty flimsy.

I'm not one of the ozito knockers and I've had good service from my ozito router, but I think it would take real skill to get good cuts out of this tool. And a jointer has to cut square and flat, and a thicknesser has to cut consistently, or the tool is pointless.

Just thought some might be interested to know.

    Smile Ozito thicknesser

Well I got one recently, you're right about the lack of locking.
Still, I wouldn't expect it to preform as a finishing machine, just for powered grunt work.
Perfectly fine to roughly dress timber for boat building, as every plank has to be hand planed to fit anyway.

Have you done much with it yet ? and if so could you give us a report on your impressions ?

The thing is the only valid criteria for any tool you buy is that YOUR happy with it. The purpose of the reviews is to give people a realistic idea of what to expect so they know what they are getting and the options.

The ozito is dirt cheap for what it is, so if it does some stuff well it might be a good option for some people.

I saw one , looked it over and found it too flimsy in appearance to warrant buying and taking home, most tools can be modified to some degree to suit the owner, but with the paper thin alloys they use these days, its just not worth the bother...I am not knocking Ozito ...far from it ...there are a few in my shed that I use randomly and some I use all the time .....in my view ...ones expectations should suit what you spend .....then you wont be disappointed
