Murphy
Hello, I've just been bitten by the woodworking bug. I had a piece of Brush Box 900x300x38 made into chopping board for the kitchen. I love the look of the grain in good hardwood, I then embarked on a project of restoring some very old ladderback chairs. I found I neede some tools (and advice) and pretty soon I was hanging around garage sales and markets buying old tools. I am not a luddite but I like the idea of using hand tools rather than machines. I have picked up a fistful of old chisels, all badly in need of TLC. Some need rehandling, one a beautiful Japanese 1 inch bench (can't make out the name), the other is a Witherby 1 inch framing chisel also a socket. I'm trying to track down someone who'll turn me some handles for these beauties. I really love old tools and enjoy using them but I feel the urge to get hold of more chisels. Is this the first sign of the collecting bug?
Cheers

Welcome Murphy
Kendall nice place been through a few times, plenty wood up your way too.
I'd offer to turn the handles but to far away maybe someone closer may help.
or you could get into turning shaping them with hand tools its easy.

Thanks for the welcome, I'll try to find a woodturner a little closer to home for the chisel handles. I've just got hold of a nice little dovetail saw (15tpi)and can't source a file to sharpen it with. Any clues as to where I can get some decent files?
