There were rotary mowers long before victa. The orbital engine was an awful thing and Sarich got rich producing nothing. Authur Bistop not only invented variable ratio rack and pinion he revolutionized hydraulic power steering for aircraft and cars alike.
It bothers me mildly that I have 1 or less degrees of seperation from about a quarter of those people...I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.
We live in a free country. We have freedom of choice. You can choose to agree with me, or you can choose to be wrong.

They missed 'Bucky Balls' too - invented by some Australian radiologists & placed in the public domain. Bunch of Yanks 'invented' the same thing 15 or more years later, then applied for & were granted a patent by the US Patent office - our wonderful Federal Govt. now says Oz doctors must pay licence fees to the Yanks.
Ditto a number of advances in skin grafts - developed in Oz, placed in public domain for several years and not patented, 'foreign' company copies idea & patents it, demands licence fees, Federal Govt caves in, shuts down local clinics & requires hospitals pay fees to use the process, even when the hospital is the one that developed it, won't allow legal challenge.
I suppose when an invention is 'sold' to overseas interests at least the inventor gets some reward & recognition, whereas if he/she puts it in the 'public domain' it is pirated & we get zip.

i was badly burnt 7 years ago (3rd degree to 20%of my body) and the tool they use for taking skin grafts. kinda like a turf cutter. was invented by a bloke just over the hill form me in gold creek road, Brookfield. aussie medicos would have none of it so he went to America and sold it there and we bought it back of them some years latter.
its ridiculous the quantity of aussie inventions that go overseas and there government is to blame for all of them
