How to Bargain - New Caravan Purchase
Hi
We are about to purchase a new Jayco Camping Trailer and were after tips on how to get the best deal.
We know the model we want and cash is ready.
Are planning on heading from Port Macquarie up to Brisbane so could drop in at each of the dealers on the way and then pick the best deal on the way home.
Any tips.....

Decide what you want.
Decide what you would like to pay (it must be reasonable)
Offer that amount as cash (Holding card, cash or equiv in hand) and walk away if not accepted.
Works for my wife.

Wear your oldest and daggiest pair of trousers, old shoes with no sole in them, patched up shirt, two or three days growth of stubble and an old plastic bread wrapper in which you keep your money.
Seen it work many times, they take pity on you especially if you haven't bathed for two or three days, then they give you a good price just to get you out of the showroom

Older mate makes buying a car a whole day affair, after doing his research on model etc and dealer. Rocks up earlyish in the morning to start the job and by about 2pm has wittled them to their best price for the model he wants, looks about ready to sign on the line, but asks for the options list and starts working through that to get what he wants added gratis. Does this about once every 5 years.
For some reason he buys a different brand car each time around, I suspect because he is well known at the dealers and hasn't got the cheek to go back.
Don is well into his 70's,very stooped and fragile looking, and was fairly short before the stoop became major. But when he sets his mind to it he can wear down the sales reps and managers very well, even outlasts them on dunny stops.

i would let my fingers do the walking.
its a buyers makert currently i would save the petrol ring a few dealers give them the details of what you want then once they call back with the price the one with the lowest gets the deal. No need to sit there in the dealership going back and forward.
everyone has the right to make a dollar including the dealer so no need to screw them down so far they are losing money because they will not be there to help you in the futre.
