    Default Channel 7 Coverage....

I'm bored watching Channel Sevens coverage of what appears to be a swim meet with a bit of rowing and bike racing thrown in. I know Australia has a strong swim team but there are nearly 500 Australians at the Olympics and they must be competing in something else.

I must have seen Cry Baby Thorpes 400m final 15 times yesterday along with repeats of several other swim heats. Is it just me or have channel seven got it a bit wrong? I switched to SBS and watched the beach volleyball and boxing which was much more interesting even though I didn't really care about the result.

Isn't the olympics about many sports and countries coming together, Let's see the swimming once and give the other Aussie competitors a go!

    That's better....

Not to mention the 1,000s of competitors from other countries in other sports that Australiaans are not competing in but still award medals. We're a nation of sport lovers - we don't just love ourselves.

And don't forget Channel 7 is the "home of rugby", which is why we got beach volleyball instead of South Africa v NZ on Saturday night and no free-to-air coverage at all of the Super 12 last season (won by a nice bunch of lads from Canberra ). I could stand the olympics coverage they are giving us if they gave us more than 5 minutes at a time and stopped continually promo'ing Home & Away!!!!

    Hmmmph.

We're fortunate enough to get SBS, which has much wider coverage of sports other than swimming.

    Yeah,

    GO SBS.

I watched inner Botswana play Messopotamia in beach volleyball this morning!

Interesting to flick during "live" coverage between SBS and 7. 7 must be sending the signal the other way (by boat) 'cos it sometimes takes an hour or more to get here....particularly if some Ozzie swimmer is about to come eighth in a heat.

    Oy Oy OY.

Gee's you guys are worse then a bunch of women having a *****

I think 7 are doing a fab-tabulous job. I was flicking between SBS and 7 when the mens and womens VERY long bike race was on and 7 were about a milli second behind in broadcasting.

Unsure what you guy's do through the day, but for me the TV is not on 24/7 and I can't be fagged staying up late to watch the swimming, so am thankful on the replay's thruout the evening. yeah after the 10th time its a bit much, but not everyone is at home at the same time, so the need for short replays is a must.

Can't remember which station did majority of broadcasting during the last olympics but I do remember it wasn't covering much at all. This year I have been able to watch gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, boxing, bikes, handball (or atleast I think its handball) one thing I missed was shooting.

And I think the blue healers ad is quite powerful with that song behind it.

7 sucks...... big time..... I HATE the ads...
there's bludy thousands of 'em... SBS has them too, at about 1/17365549th
the rate that 7 does & 7 has all these dredged up "who the F are you?"
"sports commentators" that most of us ARE NOT interested in &
bug'ral of the actual events. (& who’s sick of Advance Australia Fair????)
I bet 7 had the job of selling the tickets to the stadiums too & that's why
everyone is at home watching SBS.

The beach volley ball on SBS was AWESOME, I nearly had an accident
doing the washing up last night ‘cos I was trying to watch & wash….
I even listened to it in the car on ABC Radio this arvo & it was nearly as good…
well, sort of… a bit… (I couldn’t get any other station on the car radio)

    Hey gemi_babe !
Has anyone told you the truth about Thorpes?
    He bats for your side…
that is, unless you bat for our side???
    You don’t do you?
You are a real girl with a serious tool fetish aren’t you?
Opps !!! that came out wrong!!!
    You know what I mean I’m sure… (I hope)
    Cliff.

Guys, forget beach volleyball (check my interests - VB is one of 'em)

Comparing beach and real indoor VB is like comparing Popstars and the beatles. Real VB has multiple hitters going in all directions in set plays to confuse blockers, deceptive setters and indepth strategy. Beach has chicks in bikinis.

It's quite sad really, whilst all our other sports have gone a bit downhill (in funding as well) since sydney, mens indoor volleyball is the only sport weve actually improved at by qualifying outright for the first time.

7pm tonight on SBS, perth time Australia play Russia in real volleyball. The captain is a local Esperance boy - Dan Howard and lefty Dave Ferguson is also from Perth. Watch it! I did for the first time at sydney and have been playing ever since.

    Ramble mode - off.
    Cheers,

    Adam

I don't take an interest in sport generally so if there are ads during the Games, I will not see them. Anyone who takes an interest in the games, I am sorry your pleasurable viewing is polluted with ads.

The Games are to promote cooperation between nations and to promote world peace which is not happening at the moment. Our world leaders need to do more about world peace than throw a few dollars at the Olympic Games and shed a few tears when their country wins an event.
