I am about to do a "sculpture" statue for the Little Woman, of a lady dancing. The wood of choice is walnut and maple ( the latter being the base). What I am looking for is a clear finish to highlight the sculpture but not detract from it.
It's final destination will (I hope) be the end table next to her favorite chair. There is a window on the other side if the chair so it will get indirect lighting.
Should I use a varnish or a poly or is there something better. And also what would be the best way to apply it, brush, cloth or sponge?
Thanks
Ray
