    Talking Lurking

    G'day you lot!
I am not a very successful promoter of ideas.

I've suggested the following over the past months:
    1. A genealogy forum
    2. A glue forum
    3. A library'
All to no avail! Ah well, you can't win 'em all.

OK, one more suggestion. I notice the number of people throughout the forums who admit to "lurking", so how about a Lurkers Forum.

There appear to be hundreds of genealogy sites on the web and with each new one, the worse they seem to be. I would be inclined to leave that topic to the specialist sites that do the subject justice.

I think a Glue forum would be very useful to address issues or concerns people have with gluing-up and what type of glue to use etc.

A library would be a very useful tool and a great number of other sites have just such a feature, although I don't know whether a sticky booklist wouldn't be better than an entire forum dedicated to books/reading. Maybe if there were some good book reviewers or critics on the forum, then it might be worthy of a separate forum.

Although I don't retain or remember as much data as I used to do, I'm all for learning and expanding my knowledge, so any additional information would be welcome!

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

    Regards, Woodwould.

    Thumbs up Library

Might I suggest that our most esteemed, noble and generous benefactor, Mr. UBeaut, have a look at the International Association of Penturners website. Enlostif needed and have a peruse of their Library. It is an extremely useful part of their setup.

Other lesser mortals, beginning with Super Moderators (Wendy, please?), Axe Weilding Mongrels and ordinary minions might do the same. Following this they may decide to lend their support and put and end to my pitiful bleating.

Genealogy: I didn't intend this to be a full blown site ( many of which are not what they are cracked up to be and also very expensive ), but rather a site where I, or anyone else could ask questions or give information that may be useful in family searches.

Thanks for sticking with me one the Glue forum Woodwould.

I'll put my hand up for a glue forum too. "Library" is probably contained in "Best of the best" to some extent. A genealogy forum would dilute a field already too diluted. And we already have a Lurkers Forum; it's called Google.

Setting up a library website is a lot of work.
Maintaining it is almost as much work

The LURKERS are only LOOKERS Artme, it would be a silent forum where they can all just sit and think about what they would post if they posted a post or started a thread. Keep the ideas cumming eventualy you'll hit the spot.
