Depends on the size of the concrete blocks Ralph. I assume from the wording of your question that this style of footing is common place in the US and that the blocks are always the same size?

WOODWORKING QUIZ ANSWER for 14 AUG 04
Good Evening Friends,
I keep forgetting that you blokes do things a little differently than we do up here.
Yes, the blocks for foundation walls are mostly 8" x 8" x 16 up here.
So if the bottom of the footing is 40" below finished grade and you pour an 8" footer then it would take 6 courses of block to be two blocks above finished grade.
Example; 40" - 8"footer = 32" to finish grade, so 32/8= 4 + 2 = 6 Blocks.
Thank you for your support.

You didn't happen to throw a body in first did you Ivan? You seem to really like your concrete.

Hey Duckman,
That is the reason he has no one against him as he already has them in his concrete. LOL.Ralph Jones Woodworking
