Default surface preparation for melamine edge strips

I am about to add iron-on stips to 16mm Melamine panel edges, which will be in a humid laundry environment. Should I seal the edges first, with something like MDF sealer That Bunnies carry?

    regards,
    Jill

Unfortunately, I can't give you advice based on any experience, but I am interested in your comment about MDF sealer. When I rang a local Bunnings tonight they didn't know anything about a special MDF sealer. Do you know who makes it and what it is called?

    Thanks
    Ron

Hi Ron, I was there today looking for something this forum called "sanding sealer",
    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=76036

On the label of one can it said : " MDF Sealer".

I will go back tomorrow and get the full details for you.

Jill, that is very kind of you - but I hope that you are not making a special trip on my behalf.

Ron, I may have saved myself a trip.

    Have a look at http://www.wattyl.com.au/NR/rdonlyre...dingSealer.PDF

Thanks Jill, will follow it up tomorrow. I am making a very large cutoff sled from 12 mm MDF and want to do as much as I can to ensure that it remains stable in our humid environment.

    Hi Ron,

The Wattyl product looked to be sprayed on, whereas the Feast Watson can be brushed
