    So gumby
what was the email address? Or have I just wasted 30 minutes for nothing? The brother called Osama was a bit too much for me. Was sceptical from the first posting, but that might have just been the avatar. S/he should have chosen something Crusty like 's or Christopha's one, not something sweet and innocent like Neil's and her /his own.
    Cheers

On the scepticism issue....I have to admit I was sceptical at first and maybe Noora did give the impression she was interested in woodwork when she first started posting here. Maybe that was the only way she could think of getting a thread going......it was after all the first time she'd participated in a non arab forum.

I suspect by now some people in here think Im a middle aged perv whos gone sex mad because he hasnt seen a woman for 3 weeks and the rest of you probably think Im Al Queda's Australia Press Attache.....might be a good time to sit back for a bit and just watch the postings. Got work to do anyway.
I don't think that of you, I do however think you are VERY Very trusting.
Are you this trusting of meeting people face to face for the first time?
I shudder at the thought if the answer is yes.

    Hi there Gemi,

I said I was going to just sit back and watch this forum for a bit...so much for plans.

I dont think my postings in this forum constitute a display of too much trust on my part....in real life Im actually not a very trusting person at all. However whether or not I trust a person has no bearing on whether or not I give that person the time of day.

I often have meaningful conversations with people Ive just met and/or people have no trust in whatsoever. There are people I work with in my job who are some of the shadiest characters you could hope to meet but I usually manage to have an intelligent conversation with most of them and quite often get something out of it that benefits me in some way.

Whether I trust Noora or not really isnt an issue. Regardless of whether she really is a 17 year old Omani uni student out to learn something about the world around her or she's just a fake pushing the hardline muslim cause doesnt really bother me....she/he's/it's interesting and just as interesting is the response of people in this forum to her posts.

Okay, definitely the last post for the evening....

    Hovo.

Osama means "Lion Like", so my source tells me.
Noora, or Nura, meant "Light" (as in "at the end of the tunnel"), according to the same sources.
    Both are Arabic names.

Adolf was a reasonably common name at one time. I guess it was not unlikely that a 17 year old German, or Austrian, lass in the 1930s or 1940s might have had a brother named Adolf.

I don't quite know what to make of Noora. She may be the real thing, having some fun or looking for information, or she may be a fraud, for some peculiar reason of her own. Whichever, this thread is interesting and amusing.

If the whole thing is a hoax, then who do you guess is the villain?

It only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.

    Gumby,

The administrators can correct me if Im wrong but I think the email address got deleted from the bottom of Nooras posts because I suggested to her (I think the posting is still up) that it wasnt a good idea to advertise ones private email address on postings in a public forum.

Martin is right. We had nothing to do with it.

However what Gumby was saying is correct also: Had he put her email address up we would delete it.

    Noora,
    Stay by all means.
It would be nice to see you on some of the 'other' wood working subjects,
if you have any intrest in wood work.

I find wood work very therapeutic
Woody work is even better

    Even whittling.....
