Default what is this world coming to.

came down the coast this arvo to go fishing jumped into the boat and took off got half way donw the canal when the motor stoped. after rowing the boat to the edge (not easy) found that someone had stolen the fueltank full of fuel outof the back.

now the boat was mored on the beach outside my mothers unit. there was 5 fishing rods costing well over $100 each, 2 cast nets witch cost over $150 each, numerous odds and ends and saftey gear valued at well over a grand. this was all still there.

whomever took the fuel tank took the time to undo the hose clamp and take the fitting and all. seams strange to me.

i cant belive that it has come that i must chain the fuel tank and battery and everything else not nailed down into my boat.

Yes, we're sharing this country with an increasing number of R'sholes - that's for sure. Doesn't really surprise, though. It almost seems like a Rite of Passage nowadays for teenagers to thieve. Has been for a while. What sort of adults do they grow up to be? I expect you'll see much more of the same as our generation is gradually replaced by theirs...

What makes you so sure they were teenagers, bit of a jump isn't it?

Pretty bad that you can't leave anything unattended that isn't locked down with chains etc.

    Thumbs down Theft

Years ago was doing some fencing at the front of the farm. All sorts of stuff lying aroung the place that was worth nicking.
Finished up, lent shovel, mattock, crowbar and axe leaning against wall in open shed.
    Next morning- gone.
Don't understand the metality of someone who would steal the means to hard work!!

dad used to do earthmoveing had a loading ramp on the side of the road where he left everything from fuel drums to bulldozers. he had ben doing this for 20 years and nothing went mising. not a big surprize as we live 10km up a dead end road with a tigh nit comunity.

one day he cam home and one of his pulling chains was gone. now this thing was from a ships ancor it had 4" long links from 1/2" steel with a cross bar it was about 60'long it would have taken 3 blokes to load it into a ute.

it just so happens that the council was fixing up one of the bridges about 50m from the ramp.

well this put an end to us leaving anythig where it could be seen from the road.

..that's the one and the tank was just a convenient container to take it in... probably end up like a lost wallet... take the money and through the wallet away...

Carl, keep your eyes open, the empty tank will turn up somewhere.

Sorry about the theft of your stuff

Carl is one of their generation isn't he? I've met him and he didn't look as old as me! I know plenty of people older than me I wouldn't trust with a can of fuel.

    Dear Big,

No, I'm with you. I don't think for a second that it was actually teenagers. I guess I'm just saying that if they learn during their formative years that thieving is good and fun and makes them a hero with their mates, then what chance have you got with them when they get a bit older...

    Best Wishes,
    Batpig.

Now this sort of thing - stealing the petrol tank with petrol will NEVER happen in Perth. In fact they (nor sure who they are) will steal the whole boat.

Funny I was just cogitating last night about having to start taking the fuel tank out of the boat after each trip once the tourists hit town again.
One Friday night in January I was walking home from the rubbity when I found a boat fuel tank sitting on the white line in the middle of the road. Bone dry of course! Had me scratching my dome a bit that did as it obviously had been placed there and not fallen from a vehicle. I ended up taking it down to our one and only servo and left it with them as I figured whoever had lost it would probably end up there and the copshop would have been a hassle for all concerned.
