Around here (northern tropics) where most roofs are steel you could go down to 1 in 12 (5deg) for custom orb (corrugated), 1 in 30 (2deg) for trimdek and 1 in 50 (1 deg) for klip lok. However in an area that can see 150mm (about 6") fall in a few hours you'd be a very brave (or foolish) man to build your roof to the minimum required pitch.

what is a roof tab? :confused:

In Port hedland they don't have much rain................
BUT when they do, THEY DO!!
Most, if not all, houses over there do not have any gutters.
If they did, they'd fill and backflow into the house
and / or the water would just flow straight over the top.

Good Evening Mick,
Thanks for the area history lesson and the style of roofing you blokes use.
A roof tab is an asphalt or fiber glass roof section that is 36" x 12" with two rain slots cut into the tab that is on 1' centres that will look good every other coarse, when the roof is completed. This slot only covers 5" of the 12" tab by 3/8" wide. Most roof tabs are 1/8" thick.

Good Evening Friends,
Here is the USA the code calls for the roofs to be no less than a 4/12 pitch with single strength of felt for installing roofing shingles, otherwise you have to use a rolled roofing , salvage edge, or rubber membrane roofing.

You may also use metal in some areas but not all.
