Electrician BSA question.
We have found an electrician to do some work at our house, but looking up on the BSA site I cant find any details of his licence number. He has one written down on his card but it refers to some other business. I have even tried looking up his business name, surname etc. He does have an ABN however. (this probably doesnt mean much)
It is a public holiday here today so I wont call him, but if you dont have a BSA number you are not covered by insurances is that correct? The work that he will be doing wont come to the specified $1100 and $3300 as per the BSA site. So does he not have to register with the BSA?
Thanks for any help...

Nevermind... I just found him not on the BSA, it seems that electrictians dont have to register with them. I found him on the Qld Govt Industrial Relations licence search.
Well you learn something new everyday!
thanks

to answer any questions that you may still have, the only body which electricians have to be registered with is the electrical safety board/ electrical inspectors office/energy safe [the name changes state to state]. This will be their electrical licence which is registered here.
the other number on his card would probably be his contractors registration number. again, this would be registered with the above authorities.
in regards to the specific BSA questions, I can't help you there, but if he does check out as a registered contractor, he would have public liability insurance to cover any accidents arising from his work.
good on you for checking, and I hope this have cleared up some questions.
