Hey all you Canberrians...

Whats the weather doing down there at the moment...Do I need to bring more than my stubbies & singlet? ('stubbies' as in shorts, cause I drinks bundy's not stubbies )

Need to know what I can expect when I gets off the plane tommorrow! I mean its a blistering 22 at home here at the moment

Turn up in Canberra in July in shorts and you definitely won't need a vasectomy - 15 minutes outside and you'd get the complete and non-reversible version

Shane, it has been a little cool (minus8) here lately I suggest you swap the shorts for one of Al's tutu's, prefferably the one with the thermal tights.Forecast for tomorrow is for showers and windy, top about 11, so it should be a great day(in the shed).

Argh come on guys...It can't be that bad. I mean the temps were like that when I was in Goulburn a few weeks back. Mind you I was the only one in town walking round in shorts & shirt...Got some strange looks though :eek:
Guess I should bring the scraper for the windscreen of the hire vehicle then.

You know the worst thing about packing for a trip to a cold climate is that the jacket takes up a 1/3 of the bag space! :mad:

FORECAST FOR THE ACT
Issued at 3:30pm on Saturday the 24th of July 2004

SITUATION:
Some rain is being produced over southeastern Australia by a large cloud band
extending from Western Australia. Most of the rain is expected to fall on the
western slopes of the Great Dividing Range. Rain in the ACT will ease to a
shower or two on Sunday as the cloud band contracts to northern New South Wales.
A front currently approaching the Great Australian Bight is expected to reach the region on Monday bringing a further shower or two. Both the cloud band currently over the region and the approaching front, are linked to a complex low pressure system in the Southern Ocean. This system is partially responsible for the fresh and gusty west to northwesterly winds forecast across the region over the next few days. Winds will gradually ease from Monday through to Wednesday as a high pressure ridge strengthens over southeastern Australia. As a result, the potential for morning frost or fog will increase. The next frontal system is not expected to affect the ACT until sometime next weekend at this stage, bringing some more unsettled weather.

LOCAL AREA:
A cold and cloudy day in the ACT with some light rain and fresh and gusty
northwest winds, stronger about higher ground.

WARNINGS:
Small Boat Alert for gusty winds.
Road Weather Alert for slippery roads.

Further light rain tonight. Few showers on Sunday, mainly morning and about the western ranges. Moderate to fresh and gusty north to northwest winds, stronger at times about higher ground, tending west to northwest on Sunday.
