Reading The Age article, it reinforces my original post and thoughts from the very start when this lovefest was mooted - a total crock.

(hopefully the Kev07 fan club will realise things aren't all as they appear to be)

for posting the link Big Shed.

    Very un-spectacular.
It's an idea and there's nothing wrong with ideas.
Cost a couple of bob but a pittance compared to what's wasted daily in goverance.

Yep, just another love-fest. I must be really clever because I predicted that almost all the invitees would be either 'republicans' or Kev supporters. I was caught off-guard when actors were also invited.
Anyway, I was listening to ABC radio the other day and someone mentioned the consultation process that occurred during this get-together. Anyone who doesn't understand 'consultation' is in for a surprise because 'consultation' is the process of disseminating information and discussing same.
It is a fact that when one is consulted it means you are being advised of what is about to happen. Sure, one can have their say or voice an opinion on the subject, but it will happen regardless. It is merely the process of adoption that may be affected.
It's a shame that the people who are affected by 'policy' aren't permitted input into the decisions that are made. For example, most people are aware of the mythical global warming industry and want the government to deal with real issues. They want some tax relief and some even want stable employment without the government taxing businesses out of existence.
A democracy would be a good thing as well, but alas, we send soldiers overseas to fight for democracy in countries that have been at war with each other for centuries, or to wage "war on terrorism"?????????????
And friends wonder why SWMBO calls me Grumpy.
I think I feel better already.

    Default Tax Reform

Just love this little gem that is trotted out by polititians of all persuasions - Tax Refrom - read Taxation Increase.

Never has taxation gone down, they just move the deck chairs on the Titanic around, the overall take goes up, At various times various segments of the community may bear an unfair proportion of the tax bill but under the guise of tax reform they just moves it around a little bit to make those who think they are hard done by get a little relief until it is thier 'turn' again.

Some years ago a mate of mine had a beancounter [in his own business] that calculated that for every dollar of revenue his company generated somthing like about 75 cents ended up in a government tin by way of:
    • Company Tax
    • Payroll Tax
    • Concil Rates
    • Vehicle Registration
    • Sales Tax
    • Fuel Tax
    • Compulsory levies by state & federal governments
    • Stamp duties on contracts..etc etc etc
    Nothing much has changed today.

Tax Reform, Vison 2020 ............Bah Humbug!!
