    Default Floor boards

We pulled up the carpet here at home over the easter weekend to discover that some of our floors had been polished and some had not. No big deal really but what was intersting that each room has a hole or two drilled into the floor through to the outside. It turns out after asking around that the holes were more than likely drilled during the 1974 floods to help the water to at least drain from the house after the water had subsided We had found the tidal mark when renovating our sons room, It was about 300mm from the roof so the old place got a bit wet during the flood. Each room has one or two holes which I will have to plug up before we get our floors done.

My first thought was that they were radiator pipe holes... until I remembered this is Queensland, and not the chilly uk!

Once saw the same in a house I was sanding in. It turns out the house was being used as a hydroponic dope farm and the water pipes were run under the house and up into the rooms through these holes!!!

I'm definately not growing dope, the houses on either side are the same as ours. Holes drilled through the floors to allow the drainage after the big wet. Now to find some dowels about the same calibre to plug them up.

You should be able to find the same boards at a local demo yard. Just cut out the holed boards and replace them
