To be honest, I'm not really concerned if I don't get the cut exactly square. I've never had a leak because of an off square cut.
I use a hacksaw and clean up the cut (remove burrs) when I'm done.Cheers.

But surely you would be able to cut a piece of 1" pipe square?????????
Just make sure you de-burr it otherwise you will tear out the 'O' ring.Plumbers were around long before Jesus was a carpenter
