Securing Flue Pipe?
Hi,
I have recently installed a triple wall s/s flue for use with my wood burner. The kit came with 2 sections of metal angle iron that you are supposed to rivet to the outer flue and screw to the roof rafters. Having done so, there is still slight movement in the flue, above roof level that I would like to eliminate, or at least reduce. The main problem is restricted length of the flue in the roof void as it passes through close to the eaves.
I have found it difficult to source a 250mm dia metal bracket or pipe clip to fit round the flue that I could then bracket either to the rafters (ie, inside the attic void) or via struts to the outside.
Can anyone recommend the best way to give extra support to the flue, or where I can purchase pipe clips with a diameter of 250mm?
Thanks, Paul

At our old house we had similar problems with the flue rattling in modest winds.
A roof plumber simply pop riveted two SS saddles to the top of the outer flue, put two 5mm SS wires onto the saddles, and with two more saddles pop riveted the wires to the galvanised ridge cap on the roof. A very small amount of tension in the wires before riveting has kept everything tight enough.
Twenty years later its still there! although new owner is now talking about replacing the wood stove.

Or make your own bracket with a length of steel strapping.
