What type of car do you drive?

3 fully optioned 40ft motorhome with slides (busy at the mo ?).....
but then always had champane tastes and beer budget.......

The answers of someone who believes that cars are just a means of transport. I am past the age when they are an extension of an important male body part.

#1 - A current model Holden Calais V6. Nice comfortable car for driving long distances.

#2 - I will stay with the Holden while I am working and travelling. In retirement I will probably take a step back to an up in the range Toyota Camry V6, for the fuel economy.

#3 - Money being no object I might drive a top of the range Honda sedan. I think they are a bit over priced.

#4 - An MG TC in original condition. I loved that car, and I had it during a short period in my life when cars were my passion.

2 the new holden v6 twin cab ute ( the one that looks like the sedan )
like it but dont know its name lol
3land rover discovery v8 as long as they where giving away free fuel with it

4 first car a austin 1800 mk 2 had that much fun in it ( the seats folded flat into the biggest bed ever ) he he and that much fun to drive as well and solid as four prangs and it still kept on going

When in the UK I had a mate that rode his motor bike to work every day rain, snow or shine, it was about a 40 min trip part freeway. He wore an open front helmet and used to have to thaw his beard out over a radiator when he got to work. Now that?s committed and damn cold !

4. Can't separate 2 vehicles which were both dearly loved..

a. The Valiant ute I just pensioned off a few weeks ago when I got the Hilux.
Still going very well but needing TLC which I don't have the time for, so I'm going to put it on Ebay soon and someone will get some good big iron. The right vehicle for blowing away the boys in their fancy falcons and commodes.

b. My second hotrod, 1934 Ford with 292 v8, triple twin barrel carbs, cammed, lightened flywheel etc. Geared for acceleration not top speed.
If I dropped the foot hard at the lights the front wheels would lift off the ground about 6".

Only ever had the 34 wound up once (along Dandenong Road). It hit valve bounce at 5800rpm in top gear with needle right off the end of the speedo. (calculated speed from tach about 210 kph), and just as the valves started bouncing a Cortina went past me like I was tied to the fence.

When I was young, I loved cars. These days, I hardly drive, and when I do I don't fantasize about driving anything flash. I've got more pushbikes than cars

3. Maybe a V8 Falcon Wagon. European cars are too small as are most 4WDs.
4. XR GT Falcon Sedan my dad bought me when I was a learner.

Ours was recalled too. Apparently about 4 out of the hundreds that were tested had the problem, which was caused by a nut being over-tightened during service.

An old Toyota Troop carrier with all the mechanicals 100% and long range tanks properly set up for long camping holidays in the bush

Perhaps my Mk1 Cortina - cost $120 went fast and cheaply despite ordinary brakes and breaking down regularly but never left me stranded. Took it everywhere.

No real preference - most 'normal' cars are pretty much of a muchness.

I reckon one of these would be tops! No problems with road rage, and maybe the "Dingo-Bobcat" debate could look at this HMEV as a third option??

1) toyota 2.7 ltr 4 cyl 4x4 aluminium tray '98
2) same as 1 except with king cab (not dual cabin)
3) toyota v6 king cab 4 x 4 fully decked and a sports car (pick a porsche or a Merc AMG or Ferrari or Lambo or some fu*in' thing...)
4) favourite previously owned car was the first euro Holden astra hatch imported herre to Oz it was a 1998 model (belgium built I think - 2 ltr fwd) went like the clappers and held the road like a bum held a drink. great car!

these days I drool over wood machinary and tools - never really got off on cars meself... although SWMBO refuses to own a ford - dont blame her my first car was a ford cortina '76 TD 6 cyl, 350 dual holley, 3 speed box on the floor, yella terra head, extractors, 6 slot mags, air shocks in rear - gas in front, NO (thats right NO!!!) power steering!!!, piece of shi% was always breaking down and wearing the tires on the inside - went great in a straight line but burnt oil and hated corners. peice of shi%!!!!
