Makita blade setting gauge - help!! (Please)
Hi all,
I can't find the gauge to set the blade holder on my Makita N1900B plane.
I'm in the middle of building a bed end and I wanted to stick some fresh blades in, so I've pulled the old ones out but now I can't find the blade gauge to set the new ones up. (The tungsten slide in double sided ones.)
Does anyone know the measurement from the surface the blade locator sits against to the stepped edge that you set the cutting edge of the blade to?
I'd really appreciate it if someone can measure it and then I can get out the vernier and clamp up some steel blocks to improvise one up.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Hi DJ,
Thanks for that. Before I got your diagram I guessed at 33.5mm based on the previous setup, and set up two steel rulers clamped to the bench. That got me pretty close. I still had a little blade high of the base plate - about 0.3mm funnily enough!
Anyway, thanks again. I'll set it up for 33mm tomorrow and see how it goes.
I might machine up an ally one cos the plastic one isn't flash anyway.
