Vinegar Paints and Stains
We have been experimenting with vinegar staining - recipe was on another website. Basically you soak oil free steelwool in vinegar then use the vinegar to stain the wood. Iron acetates react with the tannins (can also use tea first then the vinegar/steelwool combo). Have had some beautiful results and are keen to learn more. We have used it on the top surface of an old cupboard that we took the plastic veneer off and applied it to the wood veneer (circa 1960's) Anyone else had any experience with this type of stain?
We also have a book with a vinegar paint recipe we are mucking around with - liquid detergent, vinegar and powdered pigments.....still in testing on scrap wood stage here...any experience anyone?
