Solar cell charging batteries for garden power
I am wanting to set up a solar powered system to power my small pond pump and the garden lights. I can guess the theory bit, eg Solar panal > battery charger > batteries > 12v to 240v invertor > timer > lights (LED kind via transformer) and pump. But dont know what sizes of cell to buy to charge what size battery etc.
Can any one point in a direction that will provide me with these answers.
Thank youGeoffrey
I love work, it fasinates me, I could sit around and watch it all day.

If you want to be really cleaver, you should get 12V lights and pump, that way you can dispense with the inverter.
You can even get solar regulators (the bit that goes between the panel, battery and load) that turn an output on when the sun goes down, which would be perfect for the lights. Have a look around eBay, there's always heaps of stuff there, or http://www.solaronline.com.au.Cheers,
Anthony
