merbau tannin stains on hands

Ok guys, i've worked out that bleach will get tannin stains off of pretty much anything but I was wondering what you all use to get the stuff off your hands, I mean the stuff that grinds its way into your skin after a few days of handling the decking boards. The best thing I have found so far is a pumice but its not too nice on the back of your hands.
Im guesing (hoping) you dont soak your hands in bleach...

The times I've done fencing my hands have been stained by tannin for days, it'll eventually disappear. Soon to get my merbau deck down and it'll do the same. As long as I know my hands are clean, I don't care too much if they're black from tannin - in just shows I've been doing some honest work.

But to answer your question my Dad and I used to use 15 or so years ago, a white hand cleaner that came came in a tall orange tin. It'll pull anything off your hands - was harsh on your skin, but so what. If anyone knows the name of it, if it's still available I'd like to chase it down again.

Alternatively you can get a soap that's really gritty, it'll clean your hands up - Bunnies will have it.

Either of the two will keep SMBO from complaining that you've left the laundry towel all dirty again.

I had this a few days ago - used a bit of deckclean -then washed with soap - all gone! its oxacylic acid I think, so probably would sting if you have cuts, and not recomended for people with dematitis type tendencies!

I have a few weddings coming this month so have to be presentable .. You can get a lot of with hand cleaner and a scourer or laundry liquid but the best thing is just a few days normal washing like others have said

none of the good ways are going to be great for the skin as the tanin has absorbed some what into the skin like a stain and isn't sitting on top like dirt

The more you sweat while handling it the more stainage you seem to get

Just wash the excess of with any good hand cleaner eg: the gel-type cleaners, or Solvol soap (pumice based been around for yonks), or simply dishwashing liquid detergent - then wait.

Your skin is exfoliating continually so the deeper stains just go away with the effluxion of time.

There are some more suggestions here, Lemon Juice seemed the most popular for preventing skin damage.

Was there a white hand on the orange tin? If so ISTR it was called Handclene/Handclean/Handolene..

I seem to remember a hand cleaning called swarfiga (not sure of spelling) remmeber it at schoold when we worked on engines it removed grease and oil. You rubbed it into your hands and then washed it off with water. Haven't seen it since anyone familiar with it?

Just did a Google search for Zightning and Knock Off and I came up with this which as soon as I saw the name Scrubber it unlocked a long ago memory somewhere in my noggin. Tin has changed but it seems to be the same stuff I used to know
