Sunlight damage repair

I have a 30+ old dining room table that has a high satin finish. My spouse put a table cloth that is like a doily (sp?) with many small open spaces in the cloth. So after several months in removing the table cloth, the pattern of the cloth is now in the finish. I suppose the cloth could have picked up moisture in the room and transferred it to the finish, but my spouse says her mother used to keep the table in a dark room with a cover over it. So somehow the sunlight lightened the color of the finish, the type of finish is not known. How to I repair the finish? I tried using a household furniture cleaner/wax remover with no visible change. Any ideas?

Try leaving it in direct sunlight for a while, it should hopefully lighten the rest of the finish that hasn't been exposed.

You will have to learn to live with it, or you will have to refinish the table and bleach the table to lighten the wood.

If the table is in direct sunlight, you should use a heavy duty table cloth that completely covers the entire table, put the dollies on top of the table cloth for show.

Could live with that !
