Heated Slab - Removing ceramic tiles

I have ceramic tiles on a heated concrete slab. Can I remove the ceramic tiles without damaging the heating? What if I tile over the heated slab, will it still be effective?

I don't understand, you say you have ceramic tiles on a heated slab and want to remove them without damaging the heater, but you ask if you tile over it will it still be effective. You should know better than anyone. Forgive me if I missed something but it don't make sense to me.

The heating cables or pipes - depending on the system - will be embedded within the slab [normally]
So yes you can remove the tiles & yes you can tile without reducing the heating effectiveness.

i just put heated flooring in my bathroom reno. and its swanky. not that i need it ;P

should still be ok. does your heated flooring control unit sense floor and room temperatures? if so you should be fine. i dont see adding another 10mm or so seeing it doing any harm. the specs of my devi in floor screed heating system stipulates a minimum of 35 clearance for the screed. it did not give a maximum so it shouldn't matter.

remember: HOT AIR RISES - the heated floorings purpose is to heat up the room not the floor (so i was told by the salesman)
