    Default Riddle / question

    Warning - I don't know the answer

One day 3 guys walk into a hotel the bell boy says ur room for the three of u will cost $30 . So each guy pulls out a $10 bill and hands it to the bell boy. the bell boy brings the $30 back to the manager and he says they get a discount of $5 so the manager gives the $5 back to the bell boy to return to the 3 guys. the bell boy cant think of a way to divide the $5 between the 3 guys so he gives each of them $1 and keeps $2 for him self.
So they each payed $9 to stay in this room that is 9 times 3 is 27 so thats $27 + the $2 in the bell boys pocket that is $29 .
    Where is the other dollar?

Stuck in the centre of a muffin?

Actually its very simple maths, and when you simply add and subtract it works fine - it's when you start mixing that voodoo multipy and divide stuff in it gets all muddled up

Rubbish , Its not maths - it is slight of hand, also known as creative accounting. The dollar in the question dissapears from the equation when they subtract $3 from the amount paid ($30) and add the $2 from the bell boy and assume it should = $30 except the amount paid ($27) already includes the $2, there is no money missing - but it sure is tricky

Same as preparing balance sheets and profit & loss accounts. And in my former life as a bean counter I made a living doing that kind of work.
