    Default Just got Foxtel

The other half signed us up for Foxtel on the weekend, so she could watch the cooking channel. I'm not complaining, I see there is also a How To channel that might be interesting.

The installer came out yesterday and hooked us up (and actually took some pride in his work too), so we're all ready to go.

So, are there any shows I should be keeping an eye out for?
    Cheers,
    Anthony

We've got the platinum package with IQ for the first month, so we can check everything out and then decide what we want to settle on.

I managed to watch half an episode of Holmes on Homes last night, which looked sort of interesting. And I recorded the New Yankee Workshop. It's a bit hard to watch anything at the moment, the missus is still excited about all the cooking shows, and she is paying for it, after all...

Luke's Workshop looks interesting, and the same episode is on 3 times over the weekend, so I should be able to watch at least one of them (3.30 am saturday is looking promising...)

I'm not really complaining about the cooking shows, she's a pretty decent cook. And no, not into the crafty stuff. She also doesn't mind watching renovation type shows, just in case there's a good idea for our place.

And I'm guessing that congratulations are in order for Stirlo on his promotion..!

Box office we still have to pay for, but the platinum package includes 2 per month for free (I think). We can still get them when we drop our package down a few notches for about $6 each.

Just a couple of thoughts before you decide on a package.
    From my experience,
I found that the movie channels lost their shine after a very short time. Lots of movies but you would only want to watch a small percentage of them. Some of the movie options look good but not good value IMO.
I got the best value from the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, the comedy channel and the life style(wood working) channels. A couple of sports channels as well but not sure how they are packaged nowdays.

I haven't had pay TV for four or five years now and i can't say i miss it.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

We don't really watch movies that much anyway and the picture and sound quality on a DVD is much better. The plan is to get the basic package plus two of the lifestyle options. Undecided about the IQ setup, buy by the end of the month I'm sure we won't be able to live without it
    Cheers,

We got Foxtel but I don't watch much television. Watched a few of Lukes workshop but then they started repeating them so gave that away.
    Reality is no background music.

TV is the bain of my life wasted more time falling asleep in front of it than out doing something but then again there are only so many hours in a day.

Have a zillion books to read both technical and novels.

    Projects in the pipeline

here's one discussion on Foxtel https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...free+magazines
