    Smile Need Help With Timber Flooring Prices

    Hi ALL,

    Recently, I have been searching around for Solid Pre-finished Timber Flooring for my house, however I have found one shop where they have;

    Solid Pre-finished timber flooring for $47.30/sqm, they told me its a Kempas timber

    and also, they offer me for an Australian Perth Jarrah for $50/sqm,

    The prices are all GST inc. in them. 25 Year warranty

    ARE THOSE PRICES OK FOR ME TO BUY???, I PRETTY SURE TO GET ETHIER ONE OF IT. IT SOUNDS LIKE VERY CHEAP.

    help me out please.....

    thx

    our 30 sq.m deck clad in yellow stringy-bark cost $1230, or $41 / sq.m - bearing in mind that cost includes a 5% over-order to allow for offcuts, which is unavoidable, and i wish i ordered 10% over so i would have stock to replace damaged boards in the future - this makes it around $39 / sq.m - if i could've got jarrah for $50 / sq.m then i wouldn't have the stringy

    the jarrah and stringy are both class 2 durability timbers, the kempas is a class 3 (class 1 being the most durable). because your application is indoors then it will ofcourse last longer.

    kempas is *generally* sourced from equatorial rain-forest and a debate rages back and forth as to whether it is forested in a sustainable manner, and whether it should be. one must pay for their principles - that is why the rainforest hardwoods are so cheap in comparison to the aussie ones. for argument's sake, if you paid for the density, longevity and strength of the timber then merbau would be one of the most expensive, up there with ironbark.

    a great site on the aussie hardwoods...
