Kelvinator AC
Any opinions? This specifically concerns the box type systems... Or who else still makes 6kw (approx) systems which might be a better bet?
regards,

Unfortunately, I don't think you have much of a choice in regards to the single unit type box systems anymore. Kelvinator may just be the best brand simply by default due to other major brands pulling out.
The new regulations regarding efficiency of units (MEPS standards) have made it an economic nightmare for the large manufactures to redesign these units for the small market they supply in Australia when many places over the world readily accept the current units.
Kelvinators in their own right in regards to these type of systems are basically well known units and typically reliable and I haven't heard many complaints though of course I don't specialise in single wall units at all. You can do much worse with the cheap no name Chinese imports.

thank you. it seems that only kelvinator, hotpoint, and nec is available, so i went for kelvinator. $850, much cheaper than fitting a split system, and the hole of the right size is already there, so may as well use it.
thanks again
