Default Cocaine - Laden Home Made Submarine Sinks

No wonder their clothes had traces of the cocaine on them as they must have been working and sleeping on the stuff. Gee I bet they had all their Xmas's come at once sniffs that stuff all the time.

COLOMBIAN drug smugglers sank a submarine off the country's Pacific coast this week that had been filled with tonnes of cocaine destined for the United States. The homemade submarine was spotted by a Colombian air force plane and pursued by Colombian navy and US Coast Guard boats.
The submarine's four crew members opened the hatches and allowed water to enter before surrendering. The craft, with an estimated capacity of 12 tonnes of cocaine, sank in 3000 metres of water, said Admiral Edgar Cely, the navy's chief of operations.

The crew's clothing was covered with traces of the white powdery drug, he said. "The important thing is that it did not get to its destination," Admiral Cely said.

... The US Coast Guard reported that it took seven hours to apprehend the four crew, some of whom reached swimming speeds of 100mph. A fifth crewman, not previously reported, was found with one leg of a pair of trousers emerging from each nostril.

    (just kidding)

I hope they stay in the region for a week or so. Apparently they weight the waterproof bags down with salt, which dissolves slowly, allowing the bags to rise to the surface for recovery later. They used to jettison bags off the jet boats that way when chased by customs.

That was how they USED to do it. Now they routinely plot drops on GPS and inflate gas bags by remote. The drugs are plastic wrapped and then fiberglassed.

I built houses in the Virgin Islands for a few years and the first thing we did when we decked the ground floor was set up the dumpy level and scan the ocean for "White Square Groupers". So glad we never found one.
