    Default Rendering over steel columns

My Structural engineer has called for two 90x90x3mm steel columns to be built and tied into a single leaf brick wall to support the roof USB's.
They also requested the walls to be gyprocked over but then later said I can render them if I want.
I am concerned that if I render over the steel colums I will get cracking in time as the render has nothing to key to on to the steel.
Is this Ok to do or is there something that needs to be done to assist the render to hold on.

I assume your column will be flush with the face of the brickwork,in which case you should span the column with expanded metal and render over that.

As Tools says you need expanded metal.

The product you require is called Redalok. It used to be produced by Bluescope Lysaght but the business was sold to Sankey in July this year.

Here is a link to Sankey and Redalok.
