    Default Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

    Why does this message come up. Generally when I have selected new posets and select a new page. Normally not until about page 7 or 8 but this morning on page 2.
    I never make mistakes, I thought I did once but I was mistaken

    Could be referring to a deleted or moved post.

    i dont think so . he is talking about when you go to new posts - eg. you get 13 pages, you spend say half an hour to get to page 8 and it says, sorry no matches etc.

    maybe its a time thing? usually i just click on new posts again and go directly to page 8 ( or whatever ) and it seems to solve it

    Thats right ss_11000. It is just annoying as the new search collection is different to the original.

    I put it down to a time out thing, it will only hold that list for a particular length of time (Yes I get it as well), then it requires to to refresh the list, but the database has moved on from your first query and you get different results.

    The geeks in the back roof will be able to confirm or deny, but that how I read it when it happened to me
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

    Sooo...start from the end and work forwards....easy
    That way you can see all the posts before they vanish.

    I've had a similar problem sometimes when I've been interrupted before I have worked my way through all the new posts. If I come back after 1/2 hr or so all the forums have been marked read and only very recent posts show up in a refresh of newposts.

    In that situation I've sometimes gone back to the 'today's posts' from the quick links drop down and can work back from there.

    You get logged out after 15 minutes of inactivity..

    I stopped using "New Posts" before the upgrade; 'twas devouring too much time. But I'd used Brickie's trick (starting with the oldest) successfully for New Posts. I'd attributed it to the addition of newer New Posts, especially if I'd added a reply, because I sometimes needed to overlap the page count.

    I don't recall getting logged out after any period of inactivity. In fact, on several occasions I've been unable to log out, due to heavy traffic or database backups, and had to re-connect an hour or two later just to log out. Might work differently for the Search function for New Posts, and could involve a setting in VBulletin.

    its only a different lot of posts on each page - depending on what time of day and how long you'd been searching, most threads only move a half page or so. so its not a big inconvenience. ( at least thats what happens with me.

    The 'new posts' page is basically a search results page, I don't think you can access search results that are over an hour old.
