Timber Floorboards Installation

Hi, i need some help from som others here who have been through this process.
Ive got carpet in bedrooms and living area and im going to change it to timber Blackbutt standard grade timber floorboards. i chose this for the light colour and its hard wearing. i have people telling me tassie Oak is the best, well see in a couple of years.

Im going to lay plastic down then fix 12mm ply over the top i as told to lay full sheets down to cover the floor. then glue and secret nail the floor boards.

my question is 19mm better than 12mm ? can i just use ply battens at 400 cts to fix the 19mm or the 12mm?
will 12mm flex too much if i use battens at 400cts? or do i have lay full sheets of py?

i dont havin anything heavy other than standrd furniture and beds in the rooms so im not sure i f i should pay the extra $1000 cost to go 19mm thick.

Also 12mm ply sound abit thin is this ok or should i go 15mm also is there a particular grade to use?

Also which glue is used to glue the boards to the battens? i was told ulraset, which ill get in a bucket and trowel on, how thick do you go with the glue?
Do the boards have to be nailed really tight or just firm?
are there places to hire nail gun and compressor?

these are the little things im not 100% sure about especially the thickness of the flooring.

thanks Glock that info was very useful.
In the end i have only one question regarding the glueing, i was told i can use a gun or a pale where i have to trowel the glue on, do i glue the entire area of the ply or trowel on a long strip of glue parallel to the boards say every e.g. 200 cts?

Either way.
You can trowel on with a 3mm notched trowel or apply an wiggle like a snake on the back of each board.

Remember... use Bostik Ultraset or Sika T55J adhesive.

Thanks trevor i think i got all the info i need now.

Yes ill be suing the Bostik Ultraset, they Quoted me $630 for 3 buckets to do about 60sq/m.

we use saugaes 1 saugae covers 1mt2 1 costs $7.00 there for your price is expensive.

you should do a bit of shopping for the bostik, that is a very expensive price, should be around $400 for 3 drums.
