Building Timber windows.
Hi all,
I have serached the Forum and havent found what I am after sorry if its already here and could sombody point me in the right direction.
I am just about to start work on a cubby house for my daughter and I thought it would be fun to build complete opening wooden window frame windows with winders just like the real house.
You will probably ask WHY but I had a cubby house that my grandfather built me that was plaster lined, with skirting, arcs, opening windows etc and its still at my parents for my daughter to use when she visits. (dads just about do resore it as the last 10 years it has been used for storage)
So I am looking for any advice / guideance regarding how to properly construct a window frame and window, as I have been told I should make these first and the door frame before contructing the walls.
Thanks
Ben

I can't think of any easy way of explaining it. I would study the windows that you want to copy / build and draw a plan with your sizes and go from there. Most of the frames are housing joints and the sashes mortised and tenoned

Guess... Simply make the window frame and add the window jamb in that fits. I would source a secondhand window with the mechanism and cut it down to suit. Them clean it up with new paint or varnish.
