Yeah I heard they'd gone belly up. Not that I was ever a Gowings shopper - I used to shop at DJs or this little place in the walking tunnel between Wynyard and Pitt Street back when I wore monkey suits.

QVD or there are plenty of shop in Pitt street mall. Try Polo (or Ralph Lauren), they have good stuff.

I suspect that there are a number of people that could say the same thing, hence the logical outcome!

Some people blame the government when jobs are lost, I blame the shoppers!

Actually in that case, I think the problem was they tried to expand and the world wasn't ready for a shop that sold clothes, camping gear, strange nick nacks and bath ducks...

When it was just that single shop in George street, they did very well - survived two World Wars and god knows how many changes in fashion. Someone got greedy and killed the golden goose.

Nah, it is not a velvet rope and rubber wear kinda place, and wearing uniform and ribbons is not on the cards... worn a uniform all year and intend to slide right into 'normal life' for a while.

Again, thanks for all the suggestions, I've gotten a good range of options - and all are close to where I'll be staying.

As for catching up... I'd like to do that but may be limited by time... I'll be running around like a mad chook as it is.

I have 3 and a half weeks off, but only 4 or 5 days in Sydney.

I'm being 'organised' by friends, so I'll find out what the program is and see if we can get together for a cold one?

After a year of mostly 16 hour days, and only 25 days "out of country"... I'm willing to dress like a flash larrikan to unwind a little.

Again, thanks all... although SilentC... be interested in seeing where your mate goes to get his stuff.

    Cheers,
    Clinton

    Welcome back to Oz, Clinton.
You have the good oil from other blokes, just wanted to thank you & your mates for the work you've done on our behalf in Timor Leste.

I was going to go with Zed's suggestion, but can understand you wanting to wear civvies for a while.

    G'day Clinton,
I'd go in what you're comfortable in....even if its a sarong and sandals.
You're the invited guest with a story to tell.
Their problem as to how they get you in
