    Default Verandah Tiling Preparation

    Hello,
I am about to tile over an outside concrete verandah and was wanting to know what sort of waterproofing is required to be placed onto the concrete. The concrete I am tiling over is a slab that forms part of the roof over the lower level. (i.e beneath this verandah is a bedroom)
    Thanks a lot

bump for this. I'm also interested to hear.

have had a lot of problems with water running into house, under house etc because someone stuffed up their job...am thinking the verandas were not properly waterproofed prior to tiling. tiling has been done and now discovered the major problems with the rain.
the waterproofer won't admit to doing a bad job.

These are difficult problems to address online. You should contact your building authority to find out more about codes down there. You've had big storms lately, perhaps there are design problems with the residence that defeat even a correctly w/p job?

    Cheers

    Good advice there.
Even a close inspection by someone with experience may not be able to diagnose exactly where the water is coming from. If it's a new house then it becomes the builder's problem and he has to sort out what's wrong and fix it, or get the subby who's to blame to fix it. If it's not, then unless you can diagnose exactly where the water is coming from, then of course everyone involved will deny it's their problem and pass the buck.
