remodel flooring and baseboard matching
We remodeled four rooms in our 1971 house including the kitchen and bath. The floors throughout are solid oak with some variation in wood color but the predominant color is golden. The woodwork throughout the house is mahogany. Our contractor has not been able to locate a mahogany that would match what we have. He suggests that we put in oak floorboards. The task is for us to find a complementary stain on the floorboards to the floors and the new kitchen and bathroom cabinets which are quartersawn oak with a nutmeg stain.
Also, we have to replace the door to the bathroom. We already have a mahogany door to replace it but should we replace it with oak instead?
Thank you for any help you can give.
