    Searching Balustrades might work better.

You can getthe wire stuff at Bunnings or boating places would also be good.

You can use glass ... if you want to get really pricy!

    Ah balustrades..yes yes...

I saw the glass stuff...I dont want to get pricey.

I have only put my corner stumps in for the handrails, have not put the middle ones in yet, I have seen pics of ppl just bolting to them to the side of the last bearer, but I was going to put it on a stirrup and cement it in the ground for extra support...

    Is this feesable?

Extra support is good, it should really be bolted through your joist and bearer as a minimum. You really don't want it breaking when someone leans on it ... especially if it's a high deck.

Just make sure you have reviewed the regulations so you get all the spacings and heights correct etc.

For a modern look that isn't too costly, it's probably the wire. Others may come back with some other ideas.

Yep> Im actualy reading the minimum requirement regulatiosn. The bottom of my deck is much less than a meter off the ground so I dont have to follow regulations, but I will anyway LOL.

    gday oohsam

she's lookin good so far - the wide decking really sets it off nice!
there was a discussion a couple of days ago regarding wire that suggested a mob (i think in sydney?) that would do wire pre-cut to length for orders of magnitude cheaper than cunnings.

personally, i think ss wire adds an extra un-necessary extra cost for little return on such a low fall (if you knocked something off the edge along the fenceline it would make it a nightmare to get to!); to do ss balustrading to the code means a shyte-load of runs, high-tension, and it all adds up - blah - here is the reg's from bca2005 i posted a little while ago

maybe some nice antique wrought iron bracketing or some ornate carved panelling set in balusters, just to break the fenceline up? i can't remember the name of those things that go above the doors in old qld'ers where the ceiling height is much taller than the doors - head-lights? lites? something light? anyway, you might be able to salvage some of them from a demo yard ... green with envy that i live in a city with no decent demo yards ...
