Staining pine
I've made up hole bunch of plarks again for the local air cadets. Pine this time. Just want what everyone wants I suppose. The cheapest way of doing it.
Don't have access to a spray gun this time. Will have to dip or brush it on unfortunately.
Wants it to have that common glossy dark mahogany look about it.
What would you buy or do ? .

Jake, I usually use solver oil based stain and put it on with a rag, it goes on quite evenly this way. When the stain is dry you could spray it with estapol gloss or semi gloss, this would not cost you and arm and a leg for a very good result, unless of course you are doing thousands of them.

Jake, any pigment stain will work, they are better on pine than the dye stains, tend to go on more even.
Solver is good, I am currently using some Protec stains which use transparent iron oxides and they are brilliant.
Whatever you do, don't use a varnish stain, they look like cr*p.
Wattyl also sell Estapol Gloss (and Satin) in spray cans.
