Not a movie SS but years ago a TV show called Combat was about Vic Morrow and Robert Stack I think was the other star

I haven't been able to find Combat on DVD's have been told it airs on Fox but not seen it.

If you keen on military check out the War Museum's web site http://www.awm.gov.au/ they have heaps of stuff.

There are many good books around also

and living where you do you at the centre of a few good museums Singleton and Williamtown Airbase.

Here is an emotional, opinionated and gritty account of the story of survival on a whaler from the sinking of the HMAS Armidale. Well worth the read. HMAS Armidale a survivor’s story. A 5,500 word personal account by Rex Pullen.

Then there is this account of the same incident, from John Sullivan. It’s interesting comparing the two accounts.

I'll second Stalingrad..... fantastic movie.

If you are into books, the "War Classic" series, introduced by Weary Dunlop are all books written by the participants... very, very good and one of them is about a coastwatcher in New Guinea... had his 17th or 18th birthday out in the scrub while spying on the Japanese.
Not too sure if you are a reader though.

Tora, Tora, Tora was another worth watching as well. Not to mention Kokoda. I didn't mind Letter from Iwo Jima and on lighter side The odd angry shot is worth seeing as well.

meh, dont really like books unless they are good ( well that makes little sense. ) what i mean is, i wont read books unless i know they are/will be good. so Harry Potter, stuff by emily rodda and quite a few more. weary dunlop is a good writer from what i've read of his work

PH I Read the first line as its sung gee's haven't heard that one for a while

there was another also

Had and uncle who was in the army on board a ship somewhere in WWII all hands on deck was called to witch even soldiers took part he was handing the gunner shells to place in the guns but wasn't told about recoil shock he had bent down to pick up the next shell turned around to be blasted with it knocked flat on his rear. from that day tilll he died he never had a hair on his body never shaved reckons barbers glared at him. Toupe makers saw him coming tho he used to have ginger hair had to get so stung him badly.
